portraits with a purpose

It is my honor to present the “40 under 40″ Breast Cancer Project, a powerful portrait series celebrating young women in battle and triumph over breast cancer.

For over a year, I have been working with Faith and Hope Boutique on this compelling series of portraits that celebrate the beauty, grace and courage of 40 women diagnosed with breast cancer under age forty.  The work is garnering national attention with inclusion in the prestigious Women in Photography 2008 exhibit, and nods in Rangefinder Magazine and The Photo Review.  You can read about the project here and  view a slideshow of the work here.  (note: some nudity)

You are invited to attend the opening of the exhibit at our Courage Night Event October 7th, 2009.  (Download your invitation)

Following the opening reception, the show will hang October 11th through October 29th at Photo612 Gallery in Haddon Heights, NJ as part of the National Breast Cancer Awareness Month campaign.  The exhibit will travel throughout the year culminating with a book project, currently in production.

In honor of the event, our studio is hosting a “Portrait Marathon” offering 40 portraits in 4 days for only $40!  Please come out and support the courageous women who participated in this important project and help us raise money for Susan G. Komen’s Race for the Cure.

NancyS - Karen, I cannot thank you enough for the opportunity to take part in this project. The portrait of me is just stunning and I am humbled to the core at the beauty of the warrior in me that you were able to capture. Courage Night was a breathtaking experience and your collaboration with Bonnie and Jeanette (Faith and Hope Boutique), The Young Survival Coalition and all of the other sponsors was something I will never forget.

God will bless you in so many different ways for your contribution to the awareness of young women diagnosed with breast cancer. Bravissima!
